Nationality: Pakistan Date Of Birth: 17 July 1969 Senior Sileby Town Debut: 2000 v Egerton Park Nicknames: Iqqy Batting Style: Left Handed Bowling Style: Off Spin Senior PB With The Bat: 108 v Loughborough Town First XI for the First XI in 2000 Senior PB With The Ball: 6-7 v Egerton Park First XI for the First XI in 2000 Summary: Simply the best player ever to pull on a maroon Sileby Town cap. 'Iqqy' arrived at Mill Lane in 2000 and made an immediate impact against the hapless Egerton Park batsmen as he bagged 6 for 7 on his debut. During his debut season he bagged 47 wickets, added 502 runs and nine catches to boot as Sileby retained their Premier Division status for the second season on the spin. Like most Pakistani spinners, he posessed a 'doosra' that bamboozled Sileby's keepers, let alone the opposition batsmen, and his quicker ball was generally speared in at leg stump at a reasonable pace - again causing problems for the unfortunate keeper. Batting always seemed so easy for Iqqy and it was generally for this reason that his career average for Sileby is not better than it is. He would also approach a situation of 2 for 2 exactly the same as 150 for 2 - he'd be out there playing his shots. His most memorable knock was a blazing ton against Loughborough Town in the League Cup. Iqqy had an initial two and a half year stint with Sileby, before heading for pastures new up north but did return for five matches during the 2006 season and his arrival is widely regarded as the catalyst that began Sileby's turn around that ended in a Division One Championship, after being bottom of the pile at the halfway stage. His domestic record in the 1990's brought him a Test squad call up for Pakistan and he has represented no less than five teams in Pakistan domestic cricket. A popular member of the dressing room who is always welcome back to Mill Lane. Cricinfo Page: http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/pakistan/content/player/40571.html Sileby Playing Record
