Nationality: South African Senior Sileby Town Debut: v Kegworth Town First XI in 2004 Nicknames: Yo-Yo Batting Style: Left Handed Bowling Style: Right Arm Off Spin Senior PB With The Bat: 117 not out v Stamford for the Sunday First XI in 2004 Senior PB With The Ball: 6-36 v Kegworth First XI for the First XI in 2004 Summary: Johan arrived as part of a double deal with compatriot Tony Ferreria in 2004, having played against Matt Willett during his County tour to South Africa the previous winter. Johan was a stylish left hander with a wide variety of strokes who never quite fulfilled his potential during his one year stay at Mill Lane and his biggest scores came in the Grantham League, as opposed to the Everards League. His best bowling, like another left handed batsman/off spinner Iqbal Imam, took six-fer on his debut as the Firsts beat Kegworth in Division One as they looked to book a return to the Premier Division. A quest that was, ultimately, unsuccessful. Johan left under something of a cloud at the end of the 2004 season but did return to England to play club cricket elsewhere in subsequent seasons.
