Summary: Brett arrived as Sileby's genuine overseas player along with Ben Cavey, who was playing as a domestic qualified cricketer thanks to a British passport.

At 6'5" tall and built like a proverbial bean pole, Brett was the perfect build for a fast bowler and he certainly made use of his height as he generated decent pace off a nagging length and proved to be the sort of bowler that sides would be happy to see off.

As his record showed, he never quite got the wickets that his bowling deserved, but his economy rate was excellent and he proved to be an excellent foil for Scott Boswell (in the days when he could bowl), who was Sileby's contract player in 1999 following his arrival from Northamptonshire the previous winter.

Brett's batting was very much in the tail end category but he left the best for last as he notched his top score of 23 not out in his final innings. His previous best had been a mere eight.

Unlike compatriot Ben, Brett headed off after only one season with Sileby and has, at the time of writing, not picked up a cricket ball since. His path back to Australia was a slightly elongated one as he and girlfriend Heike travelled the world before heading back to Australia and settling down to start a family.

Brett still keeps in touch with the club and would be more than welcome back to Mill Lane at any point in the future.
